Ok, do not laugh. But today is my first workout running. Why running? I have set a goal of Running in the March of Dimes 5k Run in April. If I want to do that, I have to start now. *Sigh*
Picture this, will ya? I am running on the sidewalk in my neighborhood with Ben and John on their bikes behind me. That’s good – right? Well, then the boys decide to ride their bikes beside me (they are in the street while I am on the sidewalk), yelling encouragement to me when I start to slow down. ‘C’mon Mom! You can do! Just a little bit further!!’ Now, I know I should not be embarrassed, but I was. Nothing like cheers to draw attention to the chunky girl, ME, running. Oh well.
Today, for my first run, I ran 1/2 mile, in 5 minuets and 4 secs. I know…I should be embarrassed about the time. But I literally haven't run since before Marcy was born (over 5 years ago). I am just excited I finished and only walked a teeny tiny bit. Here is what I looked like when we made it back home. I was dying.

Sorry its taken me so long to get my March For Babies post up - my photos wouldn't load because of their size. Any who, got that all taken care of! Our Walk was awesome. Really, it was such a beautiful day and some of my best friends were there to walk with us! Marcy's Team has been able to raise almost $4500 this year - how awesome is that? I am still shocked that we were able to surpass our goal by $500 in this economy.
Our un-offical team picture.
One of my best friends from way back, Lori, and her son Landon.
My friends who are in Interior Design with me (and their husbands).
My parents.
The Memory Mile was in memory of my daughter Marcy. This is the banner that started the Mile.
My boys at Marcy's banner. We had a balloon release while we were at her banner in celebration of her life.
If you made it through all the photos, I am impressed! Saturday was such wonderful day - a day of healing for me. Thanks for letting me share! I can't wait until next year!
It is amazing! We set our goal at $4000 this year for the March of Dimes March for Babies. Honestly, I never thought we would make our goal - the goal was so high and the economy is low. I just didn't think we would make it this year. But.....
WE HAVE OFFICALLY MET AND EXCEEDED OUR GOAL!
I don't know why I always worry about not reaching our goal - our friends, family and even strangers also come through for us! Thank you from the bottom of our heart!

With the March For Babies. And we are thisclose to making our goal. We are only $200 short. Honestly, I didn't think we had a snowballs chance in, well, you know, of reaching our goal this time around. With the economy in the toilet, and money just tight all around, I just didn't think we could make it. But we will. I have faith!
Mom and Dad came into town today to help get ready for the walk. Dad's official duty is to make breakfast on Sat morning for everyone (all 18+) of us that will walk on Marcy's Team. I have got our tshirts in, and either handed out or mailed. Seriously, I am so exiceted about the shirts. The colors just POP and the message really says what my family wants our mission to be:
It would be so easy for my family to focus on the negative of losing a child to prematurity. Instead, we want to raise awareness of the March of Dimes, and how the organization is making leaps towards ending all premature births, deaths, and babies born with a birth defect. Even if just one baby's life can be saved and given a chance to have a healthy start, then we have accomplished our goal. You never know when that one life might be your own baby, a niece or nephew or perhaps a grandchild.
There is an amazing woman named Carly who lives near this gorgeous beach. She writes the names of angel babies in the sand during sunset for bereaved parents. Wow. Amazing. She has written almost 3800 names. I am so thankful she took the time to write our sweet Marcy's name.
You can see her post here and leave her a note of gratitude if you wish (yes, I realize that the angel date is wrong on her website. I've contacted her about getting it changed).
